About Klaus Hoffmann
Klaus Hoffmann is a contemporary painter who focuses on abstract-concrete and color field painting.
His works explore rhythmic structures, precise color relationships, and the tension between transparency and materiality.
Hoffmann works with pure pigments, which he processes in a special acrylic dispersion. The colors are applied in several thin layers to high-quality, self-primed linen. This creates subtle depth effects and a nuanced interplay of color and light.
One element of his work is the deliberate contrast between smooth, glazed layers of paint and impasto surfaces, especially in dark areas. In addition to the color contrast, these contrasts also create a haptic and spatial tension.
His works are stretched on sturdy wooden stretcher frames, the sides are painted, and the works are ready to hang.
Klaus Hoffmann lives and works in Niedernhausen, where he also runs his own gallery.
